Why Camp?
Camp is a simplified version of real life. By taking the important elements of day-to-day life and making them doable, we offer a concentrated period of time where opportunities abound and where teens can evaluate their days and clearly see their accomplishments. Removing the complications of home life, the distractions of technology, and the challenges of school gives our campers opportunities to succeed and teaches them productive ways to evaluate challenges and measure success.
A wilderness camp setting offers a unique set of challenges as well as a unique set of opportunities. In addition to experiencing nature, campers have the opportunity to engage adventure. Depending on the theme of each camp session, campers will learn a variety of skills, including how to read a map, build a sleeping structure, cook over a fire, recognize local wildlife, swim in a lake, and paddle a canoe.
Crane Lake offers campers accomplishments they can be proud of and tools to deal with their struggles at home ... and offers parents and caregivers momentum they can build on into the Fall and beyond.
